Patch My PC has recently migrated the hosting location for most of its content to improve performance, reliability, and scalability. This change affects assets such as application icons, pre-defined pre/post-install scripts, and other package-related resources.

What Changed

Previously, Patch My PC content was hosted at:
https://patchmypc.com/scupcatalog/

This content has now been migrated to a new dedicated endpoint:
https://content.patchmypc.com/

Firewall Considerations

If your environment uses strict firewall rules, please review the following requirements:

  • Previously required:
    • patchmypc.com/*
    • api.patchmypc.com (used for licensing)
  • Newly required (in addition):
    • content.patchmypc.com

If access to content.patchmypc.com is not permitted, you may encounter missing icons or failed package builds.

Symptoms of Blocked Content URL

With the migration of content to content.patchmypc.com, environments that have not updated their firewall rules may begin to see issues during package creation. These issues do not prevent all publishing, but they can impact the visual experience for end users and the successful build of packages that depend on external scripts.

Missing Icons in Packages
If content.patchmypc.com is blocked, icons may not appear during package creation.
Example: Chrome package builds successfully, but the icon is missing.

The package will still build and deploy correctly, but the missing icon may affect visual consistency in Software Center or the Company Portal.

Script-Dependent Package Failures
Packages that rely on pre/post-install scripts (now hosted at the new URL) will fail to build if the scripts cannot be downloaded.
Example: Java package build fails due to script download error.

This will result in build errors and deployment failures, as the required scripts are not included in the final package.

If you experience missing icons or package build failures, update your firewall rules to allow access to:

  • content.patchmypc.com

After updating the firewall, rebuild or republish any applications that previously failed due to missing content. For guidance, see our KB article: When and How to Republish in Patch My PC
