Hello iamr00t!

Would you be able to send us the log files from one of the affected clients?
It does seem odd that it would exit with 3010 (soft reboot) if MCP was enabled.

Feel free to send them to [email protected]

We can update you directly and post our findings here as well.

The vendor has been changing their policy and download locations frequently.

In the past, the link above has blocked specific headers that prevented our publisher from downloading it. We run everything under the SYSTEM context, so the request gets blocked. When you use your browser, different headers in the request allow it to pass through normally.

We are continuing to evaluate options for this specific application. Hopefully, we can soon transition it back to automatic download.

Hello mdigrego!

Would you be able to confirm that the file description / Product name for the file you have in your local content repository match: Tableau 2024.2 (20242.24.0807.0327)
This information can be found by right clicking on TableauDesktop-64bit-2024-2-2.exe > Properties > Details Tab.

We currently match the hash value for the build 20242.24.0807.0327

Quote from: Khen8 on July 18, 2024, 04:13:57 PMHi Justin and Chris,

I replied to Chris's email since it had more detail about the logs I had attached there. It looks like we have MCP on already, but maybe 1Password's latest installer didn't take kindly to being force-closed?

Thank you
Kent

Hey Kent,
If you have a moment, feel free to add the logs to a support case.

We would also be interested in the specific MSI logs if they are available; we would be able to shed some light on what may be happening.
Let us know.

Hey EricW,

Under the Advanced Tab in the Publisher > Local Content Repo section
There is a tickbox that says:
Check the local content repository for content files before attempting to download the content from the internet.

Tick that box and you should be good to go. If the hash validation doesn't line up with what's in our catalog, you may get a hash validation error, but you can ensure you have the correct download by right-clicking on the package you want to publish > Show Package Info > See Download URL column.

QuoteOur initial suspicion is that 1Password is not being terminated prior to updating and we've been asking affected users to try automatically closing 1Password prior to deploying updates, however one affected user has reported that this did not help.

Hey Kent, I sent you an email regarding this.
But this is likely the answer:

Hello jjurgens!
We are adding the new update to our catalog.
Also, we are improving our internal detection for this application.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
#9
Sadly no new updates on this one yet.

The error is due to Tableau blocking downloads without certain headers. We have this documented on our known issues page now at:- https://patchmypc.com/known-issues-and-considerations-when-using-patch-my-pc#topic5. We think they implemented restrictions to stop software automation solutions from downloading binaries. When you invoke the download manually from a browser, it supplies a different header type in the request.
#10
That's correct.
They made the change about a month ago. We've reached out to the vendor to see if we can work something out for our downloads, but we haven't seen any progress on that front just yet.

Hello mdigrego!

Unfortunately, the vendor has altered the download process.
We've noticed a slight increase in the number of vendors requiring CAPTCHA verification. Tableau is one of them.

From our known issues page (https://patchmypc.com/known-issues-and-considerations-when-using-patch-my-pc)
Tableau is blocking downloads from scripts and automated solutions. Utilize the Local Content Repository to publish Tableau products.

Ensure you enable the following option in the Advanced tab of the Publisher: "Check the local content repository repository for content files before attempting to download content files from the Internet."

We have seen some customers geo-blocking different countries on the firewall. This is a common occurrence for this specific software. I'd check with your network team.
Depending on which mirror you hit https://www.videolan.org/videolan/mirrors.html, it may be blocked.

You could use the local content repository if you need to get it updated ASAP.

Hope this helps.

Hi JC-WH,

Yes, those are the steps I'd start with.
You already have all the groundwork for getting the PMPC updates into ConfigMgr.
It would just be a matter of modifying your ADRs to account for Title = Adobe and Vendor = "Patch My PC"

Let us know how things go.

Hi MPangersis,
Would you be able to forward some of the failure logs over to [email protected]?
We can look through some of them to see what's going on, then reply back here.

Cheers.
