disabling "silent install" no longer working (problem previously reported)

Hi:

Just got a new laptop and was trying to use your fabulous program to download the programs I want--but to download them only, not install them. I unchecked "silently install and update applications" so that I would "need to navigate through the application installer manually.

The portable apps all downloaded--which was fine; the only non-portable app that downloaded correctly was Bleachbit. The others all had the installers begin, which I thought was a fluke, but when I selected not to install them, the downloaded program was nowhere to be found.

Next, I kept the silent install setting disabled and toggled the red "pause [to unenable silent installation]" on those non-portable apps I wanted to download. But the same thing happened; the installer start screens came up and I had to manually cancel out of each.

It looks like someone else had a similar problem and reported it, and it wasn't reported as resolved successfully in the fall of 2024.

I want to use HiBit Uninstaller to "record" changes made to the registry by each program's installation, so just downloading the programs is kind of important. Has the download only feature been removed?

Thanks much!

It was removed.

Several posts about it (including mine).

Why would the developer imply it is still a feature? That's odd to say the least, perhaps disingenuous isn't too strong a word. Be nice to hear an explanation.

Well, thanks for letting me know. I'll just compile a list and download through major geeks out something.

And given that it's listed as a feature yet has been removed, don't think it's inappropriate to ask if you know of any alternatives that just do a download, no install--thanks.

"Disable silent install" means disable the app from installing silently, which means it will run the installation manually and you have to install it yourself step by step. This has nothing to do with the removed option "Download Only Mode" or "Keeping the installers after updating".

My mistake. It still cripples one of the best features of your app (for some, at least), and a feature that distinguished it from its other GUI friendly competitors. Hopefully, they've not made the same poor decision. Thanks.
