Hello all,

Going thru the step by step on this page
https://patchmypc.com/how-to-bundle-cisco-anyconnect-modules-to-install-in-a-specific-order

However when looking for the file to store in the local repository, there isn't a 'Secure Mobility Client' for the latest version.

Trying to run the Umbrella Module tells me that it is looking for Cisco Secure Client, which I believe is the 'Setup' in the Zip file we download from Cisco.

What option in the publisher should we be selecting now since most of the information and steps are for the previous AnyConnect version 4.x.x.x?

Thanks in advance for the help :)

Hello Ramos,

In Patch My PC Publisher, both AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client 4.10.08029 and Cisco Secure Client AnyConnect VPN 5.1.7.80 are available in the catalog for publishing. Please note that version 4.x is available for use until its end of life on March 31, 2027. I've shared a Cisco blog post that discusses this in more detail:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/anyconnect-secure-mobility-client/anyconnect-secure-mobility-client-v4x-eol.html

Since the installers for both apps are behind the Cisco Service Contract portal, you will need to manually download them and copy the contents to your local content repository. You can find the location in Publisher's advanced tab. Once the contents are stored in the local repository, the apps will be ready for customization and publishing.

Here are the download URLs for both apps:

4.x : https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286281283/type/282364313/release/4.10.08029?i=!pp

5.x : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/security/secure-client-5/model.html#~tab-downloads

The article also discusses how to bundle Cisco AnyConnect modules to install in a specific order. The steps mentioned are applicable for both 4.x and 5.x.

If you encounter any issues or errors, feel free to reach out to us.

Thanks. :)

Hello nithin,

Thank you for that information, however I am fully aware where to download the files from and the same article you mention, I also posted it above.

Let me clarify my questions.

In that article it says to place only the "Secure Mobility Client" in the local content repository, however that is a file found in the older version 4.x which as you know, is EOL March 2027.

I am trying to ask what file from version 5.x goes into the local content repository as the primary file before all the other modules as there is none named "Secure Mobility Client"  (note, in the article there is an item in the Publisher which says 'Full Client' but this is no longer there)

and secondly, in the Publisher, which option do I select for that specific file I placed in the repository?

Hello Ramon,

To answer your first question, the Secure Mobility client is the name of version 4.x.
For 5.x, the version supported by the Publisher is "Cisco Secure Client AnyConnect VPN 5.1.7.80" with the file name "cisco-secure-client-win-5.1.7.80-core-vpn-predeploy-k9.msi". You can check the details by right-clicking "Cisco Secure Client-AnyConnect VPN" and selecting "Show Package Info." (I believe it's an old image in the article and it will be updated as per the new product catalog).

For second question,
Once the file is placed in the repository, the Publisher will intelligently search for the file and use it for package creation. You can also create a folder with the version number within the Local Content Repository, and Publisher will use it. To verify the file's presence in the repository, you can double-click the "Download URL" in the "Show Package Details" window in the Publisher.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. :)
