ExpirationFailed error

Good morning,

Last night I started receiving an error that a few updates failed to expire...

*** Failed :
Dropbox 53.4.67 has failed to be expired : ExpirationFailed
Google Chrome 68.0.3440.75 (x64) has failed to be expired : ExpirationFailed
Google Chrome 68.0.3440.75 (x86) has failed to be expired : ExpirationFailed

The log is showing...

Any ideas as to why updates are now failing to expire?

Justin Chalfant (Patch My PC)

Hi,

This happens when the update file has been removed from the WSUS content source path. When the update is expired, the API checks to the signature of the cab for the update. If the file doesn't exist anymore this will fail. This can happen sometimes if you are using a custom WSUS cleanup that is removing files from the content store. As a workaround, you can manually create the folders you reference in the logs below and copy a valid CAB from another folder and rename it to the filename that is being searched for in the log file. This will allow the update to be expired. We could jump on a call if needed to help.

That fixed it, thanks for your help!
