Feature Request - Uninstall Old Version After Upgrade

When updating Audacity, the program installs the new version and leaves the old version installed.  Can the program automatically check for left over old version and remove them after an update?

In Audacity's case, I had to uninstall Audacity first before I could install the new version to avoid a duplicate.

Usually software should do this automatically while installing the new versions but some of them don't remove very old versions, just recent ones.. like Audacity.
We will see what we can do
