Oracle has released an updated installer including the fix.  Can you please release v8.0.40 back into the catalog? If you are planning to do so already, can you share a release date so that I can update my management team.

Thank you!

Quote from: Kyle (Patch My PC) on October 31, 2024, 11:23:14 AMHello,

Thank you for posting about this issue. We rolled this back within our catalog a few days ago, on 10/28/24, to version 8.0.38:

If you still have retained older version(s) of the application content we have the following articles detailing how to perform a rollback:

ConfigMgr --> https://patchmypc.com/how-to-rollback-a-third-party-software-update-in-configmgr

Respect! You are fast!
Thank you very much!

Hello Jonathan,

The new Teams app is an MSIX installer, which we don't support yet. Our Dev team is working on implementing support for MSIX installers. Once that's done, we'll be able to support the new Teams app too.
As suggested by Hugo in an earlier post, upvoting the idea will keep you notified when the app is shipped. Alternatively, you can create a Win32 app from Intune and configure update policies from admin.teams.microsoft.com to keep it up to date.

Hello there,

Please note that a new version of the application LINQPad 5.52.1 (EXE-x86) has been released by the vendor and is now available in the Patch My PC catalog.

https://patchmypc.com/patch-my-pc-catalog-update-11-04-24
https://www.linqpad.net/LINQPad5.aspx

Please perform a sync from the publisher to republish the new version of the app and the issue will be resolved.  If the packaging fails again with the same error, you can open a support case so we can troubleshoot this further.

General Questions (Free Home Updater) / Is the Patch My PC v5 Updater ...
Last post by RVST - November 05, 2024, 07:26:21 AM
There are three Patch My PC v5 updaters.

1) The first one is located at the below location and is used to check for updates and download third-party software updates.

C:\Program Files\Patch My PC\Patch My PC Home Updater\updater.exe
2) The second one is located at the below location and is used to download updates for the actual Patch My PC application itself.  These updates come from https://patchmypc.com/freeupdater/PatchMyPC.exe – Cloudflare IP addresses 104.22.68.185, 104.22.69.185, 172.67.7.92.

C:\Windows\SystemTemp\2d20c907e1aef7dca6db4aed69664c90\updater.exe
3) The third one is located at the below location.

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\2d20c907e1aef7dca6db4aed69664c90\updater.exe

These second and third updaters use what looks like a 32-character MD5 hash in the file path to the updater executable.

Not having a fixed file path is problematic at this makes it impossible to create rules – for example adding a firewall exception to allow it to make outbound connections.  Therefore, is this 32-character hash going to remain constant – so that the updaters are always using an expected file path?  Or is it likely to randomly change?

Quote from: Omar (Patch My PC) on November 04, 2024, 02:25:46 AMOnly the ones in PMPC Home Updater are supported for now, and you even must download them at least once from the home updater in order to get their updates in the future.

Would it be possible for PMPC to scan the folder (and subfolders?) where the user indicates to have the Portable apps and check for the existence of the Apps already in the PMPC list?

I have the same issue with a folder where Anydesk and rufus portable are located

As a college student, StudyProfy has been a lifesaver for me when it comes to writing essays. Their "write essay for me" service is so efficient and reliable! The essays are always high-quality, original, and exactly what I need to meet my academic goals. It's a fantastic resource for any student who needs some extra support, and I'd definitely recommend StudyProfy to anyone looking to improve their grades and manage their workload better!

Sorry, I did not manage to quote correctly:

'What you are suggesting means that we need to add every single portable app on the internet to the database of the home updater'.

Er, I am not aware of that.
I am not at all referring to or saying anything about the comprehensiveness of the PMPC database of portable apps. I am not a native speaker, maybe my English is not adept enough.

I sipmply observed that PMPC did not see my portable apps in the designated folder. I assumed that was because I had stored them in a subfolder structure, to quickly find the right tool when I need it.

Example of nested folder and subfolders structure:
Portable Apps

    Hardware Monitors (with subfolders:)
        Speccy
        CrystalDiskInfo PORTABLE
        Winaero WEI tool
                Proprietary tools
                etc.etc.
        Data Management
                Explorer
        Driver managers (also with subfolders)
    Uninstallers (also with subfolders)
    System (also with subfolders)
    Tools (also with subfolders)
        etc. etc.

On the lowest level I have every app in a designated folder with version information in the name, for the simple reason that many apps do not have version information in their name.

Now I did a quick test and put an outdated portable tool at the highest level, i.e. directly without an enclosing folder in the 'Portables Location' folder (rufus-4.4p.exe). I had PMPC run a re-scan. Rufus is now not found either.
So it must not be down to the inability to scan in sub-folders.

Ok, some more tests:
1 I go to default settings and let PMPC look at PortableApps folder on my desktop again. I place a portable app here. I do a scan. PMPC sees nothing.

2 I 'install' a portable app (I would use the term download here but understand the choice of 'install as well). I choose BlueScreenView 64-Bit_1.5.2. After a rescan, PMPC does see this app! But geek.zip what I put next to it does not! (This without putting geek.zip in a subfolder).

What is going wrong here?
