PappiRauk

Hello,
I've tried the new Custom Apps portal (portal.patchmypc.com) and it looks very promising.
But for one of our apps with a trademark symbol (®) I'm unable to supply av valid string for the app name.
"Please limit your input to use only ASCII characters."

Here are the result from PatchMyPC-CustomAppsHelper.ps1:
AppName                       : BloxOne® Endpoint
Publisher                     : Infoblox
Architecture                  : 32-bit
AppsAndFeaturesName           : BloxOne® Endpoint
Version                       : 2.4.6
InstallContext                : System

Hey  PappiRauk,

Thank you for reaching out.

We are working internally, and we are aware of this. We are testing how we can add a symbol to the app name in the custom app folder.

We will update you once we have an update.

Regards,
Raunak

Hey Pappi

We have a work item internally to resolve this by adding a list of new allowed characters, but we are at the mercy of what characters Intune supports and we need to figure out what that list is!

In the mean time, I suggest simply removing the illegal character from the display name of the application when adding it to the custom apps portal

Hello again. Any progress on this topic?
We are in need of these symbols ®åäöÅÄÖ
If we simply exclude these characters - does the detection method work?

Kind regads,
Fredrik

Hey @PappiRauk

You can use % in the ARP name in the custom app in place of the (r) character :) e.g.

My App® - More App Name

Would become

My App% - More App Name
