I only see one folder or file reference to VLC/VideoLAN in Program Files and Program Files (x86). There is only one in add/remove programs, too. How do I find the reference and remove it?

I had 2 VLCs detected, 2.2.4 and 3.0.3. I updated all and 3.0.3 updated to 3.0.4, but 2.2.4 remains. VLC 2.2.4 is still shown in red on the right side, but it reports that everything is up to date.

Yep, 2 versions installed. Removed the old one and the right-click stuff broke. Reinstalling the latest fixed it. Thanks.

My 7-zip shows detected as 16.04 and red on the right, but on the left it is green and 18.01, which is what is installed. The red entry doesn't seem to affect the count as it says 22 of 22 up to date. On Win10 64bit. V4.0.0.6.
