Bitdefender support aren't being very useful thus far, they told me patchmypc.exe is clean... well yes I know that and asked for a screenshot of the detection  :o

I guess they didn't actually run the application and test it properly then,

Gone back to them with screenshots of the events window showing no detection, the error from PMPC with BD-ON and it working with the on access scanner disabled.

I suspect Bitdefender's scanner is locking a file PMPC is trying to read, or something.

Edit:

Spoke with live support, They said they're aware of the issue and working on it so I'm still hopeful they can pinpoint the cause of the problem and fix it.
Quite like BD as it seems to be quite light and tends to have a fairly decent detection rate (according to the last set of results I saw)

Running Antivirus plus 2013.

Just Ran into this problem myself,

Have also raised it with Bitdefender support so lets see what they say, hopefully it's something they'll fix pretty quickly as don't really want to have to exclude PMPC or turn off the antivirus everytime I want to run PMPC.

It seems PMPC is not correctly downloading the winSCP update and it always fails to update.

Verifying WinSCP Download URL And Size

If I look in the repo folder after the download completes a See a 1KB exe and it warns that windows cannot run a 16bit program.

It would be good if PMPC could Timeout after so long waiting for an app to be closed and skip onto the next update then once it's done all the other updates have another go at updating whatever it was that's holding things up?

Yep I was thinking of switching to another App instead although not sure if you can recommend a decent defrag tool

Seems letting the latest auslogics update install via patch my pc also let the ask toolbar install  :-[

I got asked if I wanted to uninstall the old version first but pretty sure I never got asked by the installer if I wanted the annoying crap-ware that comes with it.

Edit:

PatchMyPc also seems to still think auslogics needs an update even though it did update successfully and is already the latest version (3.5)

Is it possible to have the option to change the download settings for any updates that require applications to be closed such as flash/java.etc so that we can have them download in the background and THEN wait for the application to be closed.

At the moment it seems to check if the conflicting app is running before it even starts the download of the update which means upon closing the app (usually firefox) one has to first wait for the update to download and then wait again whilst it installs the update.

This can take a while if the download server is being a bit sluggish or the internet connection isn't that great.
