That worked, thanks Andrew!

I had assumed a full sync would upload a new intunewin with the changes, so I did not check republish before the sync initially. Once I did, the changes went through.

Hi Andrew!

I think that may be what I was missing. Would a selective sync be sufficient? Or would I need to check 're-publish on next scheduled sync' before I run the sync?

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

I have the Cisco Jabber app configured with the following settings. I've also configured the default settings to configure a custom banner.

I've added an app supercedence setting for a different app in Intune to replace Cisco Jabber and configured it to uninstall Jabber at the time of installation for the new app. When this happens, however, I get the default conflicting app popup if Jabber is open at the time. Despite having configured 'Do not allow deferals', the user is still offered the option to snooze the uninstall, and the customized banner is not present. Is there a separate place that I need to configure conflicting process settings for a required uninstall?

Thanks!
Michael

Hi Chris,

That one seemed to work, thanks! For future reference, where should I be downloading the insaller from? Also, are there any updates on PMPC's ability to automatically retrieve the updated installers for Tableau without users manually downloading it? I noticed that the link you shared was not behind a paywall/fillable form so wondering if that means progress has been made?

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Chris!

Attached is the details pane of the installer that I am putting in the local repository:

Since the installer for Tableau is now locked behind a form and PMPC is unable to automatically download the application to update the app in Intune, I manually downloaded the installer and put it in the local app repository but recieve an error saying "The digest of the local content file does not match the expected one." The name seems to match what is expected based on the right click info on the Tableau desktop latest app.
#7
Aha that makes sense. Thank you for the info, and for all you do at PMPC!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply. Is this a new change? I only ask because I have a version of the app that was published by PMPC (version 24.1.827) on 5/1/2024 which I did not manually download. Was that the last version before the vendor made the switch?

Hello,

We use Patch My PC for app creation and updates for a variety of applications. One of which is Tableau Desktop. I have been deploying Tableau with PMPC for a while now but noticed today that the icon next to the app in the publishing settings mentions that the app needs a manual download. My understanding is that because apps like this are locked behind a paywall, you are supposed to manually download it and place it in the local repository for PMPC to publish it to the site. This was confusing to me because I've been deploying Tableau with PMPC for years (including the most recent version), and ... I've never manually downloaded it?

When I look at the download URL, it does indeed show the path to the local repository for the site. So, nothing is really having an issue necessarily; I suppose I am just trying to figure out how this is working if I haven't manually downloaded the installer.

We are leveraging PMPC to deploy updates for Zoom via PMPC. We have the conflicting processes configured with the pop up to allow users to defer. Is there a way to determine if a user has deferred the installation of the update? We see some failed updates that state "the user cancelled the installation". Am I correct in assuming that means the user deferred the installation since they had it open already?

Thanks!

Thanks, Andrew, that makes sense. And thanks for all the work you do for PMPC!

I'm trying to determine when/why I would use an app deployment in addition to an update deployment.

For example, if I deploy Google Chrome to a group of computers in Intune and I have the attached settings enabled, will it not keep the app up to date in the same way deploying an app then deploying the "Update for App" win32 app in Intune would? If so, when/why should I use the "Update for Google Chrome" instead of just deploying the latest Google Chrome app and enabling the below settings?
#13
Never mind, I found where I can apply it by using the right click options for "All Products" at the top of the list rather than clicking on an individual app. Thanks for your help!

Hugo,

Thanks for your reply! I had completely forgotten this feature since it is disabled by default. Is there a "global" default setting that can be applied to all updates? I.e. if I wanted all updates to default to "notify user to close application" is that possible, or would I have to do it on an app by app basis?

Are there any checks in place that prevent an app update for a PMPC supported app coming from Intune from quitting the app that it is attempting to update if there are any running occurrences of it on the machine?

For example, if I have the Update for Zoom assigned to a group of devices, and the device attempts to install the "app" while a user is currently in a Zoom meeting, will the update quit their running instance of Zoom, or will it just fail and then add a GRS entry in the registry to retry at a later time?
