Yes, PatchMyPCUpdater.exe was running. Killed it and now PatchMyPC runs correctly.

Mahalo! (Thank you)

My system which has been running PatchMyPC for many months now has started getting an error since updating to 3.0.4.1. The detailed error message says "access to the path C:\PatchMyPCUpdates\PatchMyPCUpdater.exe is denied". I don't understand this as it has been working for months on the previous version of PatchMyPC. I checked effective permissions for C:\PatchMyPCUpdates\PatchMyPCUpdater.exe and my userid has Full Control.

System is Windows 8.1 x64 with all patches applied.

I'm attaching a snip of the error window that pops up to this post. I'll be happy to collect any additional documentation you might need.

Here are the details of the error:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Same here. Win 7 Home Premium with all patches. Have run 'sfc /scannow' and 'chkdsk c: /r' and problem remains.

Aloha,

Adobe put out Reader version 11.0.11 in May, but it's still not in PatchMyPC. Is there a problem with this release that it's not included in PatchMyPC?

Mahalo,

Harry Z.

Malwarebytes has a (relatively) new product named Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit. I put this on one of my customer's machines and PatchMyPC detects it as needing updating when it is already up to date. If you try and do the update, PatchMyPC downloads Malwarebytes Anti-malware and not Anti-Exploit.

Anti-Exploit is not listed in either the "Other Apps" or "Common Apps" tabs, but  I'd love to have this program included in PatchMyPC.

This is PMPC 2.6.0.7, definitions dated 11.24.14 running on Windows 7 Home Premium, 32-bit

I've also been getting failure messages when trying to install or update Flash on Win 7 64-bit systems (several of them).

The title bar of the error window is:  Unsupported 16-bit application

Message: The program or feature "\??\C:\PatchMyPCUpdates\flashlatest.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibity with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.
