Title: Newer Versions of Applications not overwriting the old versions (ConfigMgr)
Post by: mirzairl on January 16, 2025, 06:19:55 AM
We currently have a issue for a decent time now, in which for example 7zip.
**Applications are installed per Task Sequence during Windows setup

7zip 24.07   is currently deployed and works all fine
New version 24.09 is released, its in PatchMyPc in ConfigMgr Application Manager, its also in SCCM Config Mgr,
but the old version 24.07 is still being deployed.

We already have it set to "Update existing applications metadata, deployment type, detection method, and content files (default)"

This is not just happening with 7zip, mainly happens also with Google Chrome / Adobe...
eventually we have 2-3 google chromes & 7zips ...etc  under applications in SCCM

Hi, the Patch My PC Publisher allows overriding these settings at the vendor and/or the individual application level. If you right-click the vendor node (i.e. "Igor Pavlov") and select "Manage application update and retention...", a dialog appears that lets you specify the application update mode for all applications under this vendor. If you want these settings to follow the ones specified in the ConfigMgr options, make sure to select "As defined in ConfigMgr apps options".

After checking/correcting this, right-click the individual application(s) you are publishing, and verify the same settings there.
