Title: Issues with Software Center Installs Failing Due to Pending Reboot
Post by: itemd2rseo on November 14, 2024, 11:35:16 PM
Hello everyone,

I hope you're all doing well! I wanted to address a recurring issue I've been experiencing with installs in the Software Center, where installations fail due to a pending reboot.

Problem Overview
It seems that whenever there's a pending reboot on the system, it prevents new software installations from proceeding. This has caused delays and confusion among users, as they often don't realize a reboot is required to complete prior updates.

Questions:
Is there a way to automate the reboot process after critical updates to prevent this issue?
Has anyone found a reliable workaround to manage pending reboots before initiating new installs?
Are there any settings in ConfigMgr or Intune that can help mitigate this problem?
I'd appreciate any insights or solutions you all might have. Thank you for your help!

Hello both,

Apologies for the delayed reply on this.

The best option would be to let ConfigMgr handle this. Configure "Computer Restarts" policies within your Client Settings.
Microsoft well documents this, please read this article (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/clients/deploy/device-restart-notifications).
