Title: Is PatchMyPC able to set Dependencies?
Post by: [email protected] on July 05, 2024, 10:03:15 AM
Can PatchMyPC automatically set dependencies on imported ConfigMgr apps?  For example, Devolutions Remote Desktop Manager now requires .NET Desktop Runtime 8 and the install fails with an ambiguous error code if it's missing.

If I set the dependency myself in the ConfigMgr console, will PatchMyPC overwrite it when a new version of the Remote Desktop Manager is released?  If so, is there a way we can have the PatchMyPC Publishing Service add that dependency?

Hello,

Patch My PC cannot set dependencies at this time, though we have began tracking dependencies with the intent on supporting them in some way in the future. https://patchmypc.com/known-issues-and-considerations-when-using-patch-my-pc#topic3

If you add a dependency to a ConfigMgr App, that dependency should stick around when the app is updated as long as you are updating the app in-place and not creating a new app with every new version.
