Title: Zoom - CptService.exe blocking update?
Post by: jstrong on December 12, 2023, 12:58:26 PM
Hi all,

New to PatchMyPC and think I found something worth sharing.

We've had a pretty rough go with updating to the latest Zoom 5.16.10.
What I've found is a service running in the background preventing the install.

In PatchMyPC, Manage Conflicting Processes, I've added the CptService.exe to the process list.

Has anyone else seen this?

Hey There!

Thank you for sharing this insight with us! I'll pass this along to our devs to see if we should add this to the default MCP list going forward!

I'll keep you posted once they've provided an update!

Thanks,

Spencer Cruz

Follow up for you! We've added the additional process (CptServices.exe) to the MCP list for Zoom Meetings. This change was just shipped out in our most recent catalog update. Again, thank you for bringing this to our attention! Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns! 😊

Hello,

I just wanted to update you on this. We went ahead and removed cptservice.exe from the list of blocking processes, as the addition of that service was causing issues for other customers. If you would still like cptservice.exe to be on the list of blocking processes, you can add it via the right-click options in the Publisher: https://patchmypc.com/manage-conflicting-processes-when-updating-third-party-applications#ManageProcessList (https://patchmypc.com/manage-conflicting-processes-when-updating-third-party-applications#ManageProcessList)
