Title: PowerShell
Post by: fredjclaus on September 13, 2023, 03:38:09 PM
Is there a way to tell PatchMyPC to run through a powershell script?  I have an elderly mom who has trouble clicking on things but she wants to do things for herself.  I'd like to be able to write a script that she can just click on on the desktop and have it silently in the background run PatchMyPC and update any software found.  Is this possible?

PMPC has a build in scheduler, so you can schedule the run at a time where your mom is normally logged on.
In addition the task is run if a run is missed.

You can use a PowerShell script to run PatchMyPC for automatic updates. It's easy to set up, and your mom can just double-click the script on her desktop.

Yes, it is possible to run PatchMyPC through a PowerShell script. You can create a PowerShell script that automates the process of running PatchMyPC and updating software. Once the script is written, you can create a shortcut to it on your mom's desktop, allowing her to simply click on it to initiate the update process. This can help simplify the task for her while running silently in the background.

I would like to find a way to launch patchmypc with the applications to install already check marked, or some other way to launch the app and have it do the initial installs, not just update existing ones that were selected manually. Where is that file/info stored?  Can I just paste in a preconfigured .ini file to accomplish this?  Or?
