Title: PatchMyPC's Google Chrome updates/applications - user context or system context?
Post by: TimothyG on November 06, 2019, 07:41:17 AM
Hello all,

We are continuing initial testing of our new PatchMyPC Enterprise Plus configuration.

One of the applications we'd like to have PatchMyPC maintain updated is Google Chrome. Many (perhaps all) of our organization's installations of Google Chrome are not managed and are located in

C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe

We'd appreciate confirmation as we suspect, that PatchMyPC's updates are only applied to managed Chrome installations in

c:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe or
c:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe

Thank you for your assistance!

We would only detect and update per-SYSTEM installs. You could always use our application feature to create a Chrome application and deploy that app to convert the per-user installs to per-system. Based on our experience, Chrome does a really good job at this type of migration with their MSI.
