Title: Convert from 1806 Third-Party Updates to Patch My PC Publishing Service
Post by: Brady on November 28, 2018, 06:53:54 AM
A few weeks ago, we deployed Patch My PC by enabling the third-party software update catalogs in SCCM 1806. After reviewing the documentation, we feel that the Patch My PC publishing service gives us more options and would like to use this instead of the integrated SCCM option. We found a bunch of documentation to implement both options but nothing that talks about migration from one option to another. I remember reading that if a catalog is removed, the updates are not and I am concerned that if we revert the changes we made when implementing the Patch My PC third-party software update catalog we could run into problems trying to implement the publishing service. The  third-party software updates are working perfectly now.

Any insights or guidance on this process?

No pre-actions are needed to switch. You can just remove the catalog from SCCM and start using the publishing service. Updates already published from SCCM will just be ignored.
