Messages - Justin Chalfant (Patch My PC)

#2086
Hey,

The reason it is getting hung up at Firefox/Java is because Firefox or Internet Explorer it open. In order for Java to install successfully all browsers need to be closed. Once browsers are closed PMPC should continue with the update.

You can skip Java update by importing a regeistry key on the target machine but Java is an important update so that probably wouldn't be a good idea.

This appears to be an issue with Microsoft .NET framework. I have the same issue will look into it.

It's working fine for me Flash comes out with updates often.

Hey,

Yes, this can be done there isn't a config.xml anymore. The settings are stored in the registry under (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Patch My PC\Options). Run Patch My PC and go to the options panel and choose the updates you would like to skip you can then export the registry key above and import it to the target machines you want to have the same settings.

Will add to version 2.0.9.1. This will be released within the next few days.

Thanks,

It would be detected as 64bit if you have the following regsitry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT (This should only be on machines that are 64bit check to see if this exist)

Patch my PC detect my OS as being :
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64

But I am actually running a 32bit version.
This makes all updates fail as it tries to run 64bit installers...

The right click skip/enable feature will be added to the next version. I'm not planning on changing the color since that will tell you whether an update is needed or not regardless of skip/not skip status.

Hello Justin:

Thank you for the reply.  It was handy to have the right click option and I appropriate your consideration to return that function.

When the program saves the settings of a program / plug in, will there be some kind of indication ( maybe a different color ) that the ignore flag has been set on that program / plug in and will I be able to remove it from the right click menu?

Thank you again.

I will consider adding this back keep in mind that the checkboxs for skipping setting will save the settings so when you run it again it will automatically skip the update if it was checked before.

There are checkboxs in the options panel to always skip certain common updates.

Hello Justin:

You are correct and I know of that location.  I would rather not go to another panel and select which update that I may or may not want to be ignored now or in the future.

I liked the way it was when I could just right click and say skip and then next time not skip.  Both options could be made available in the program.

Thank You

Thanks for pointing that out. I must have forgot to remove the MD5 hashes check on the website. Version 2.0.7.5 and above are digitally signed (Justin Chalfant) to verify integrity.
