Installed version is 24.8.1.2

PMP says update is version 24.8.2.1, but downloads 24.8.1.2 installer.

Quote from: johnny_dll on December 01, 2023, 04:35:42 PMRunning Patch My PC Free Updater 4.5.0.4 on Microsoft Windows 11 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22635.2776) and the app launches as expected but as soon as I click <Perform 1 Update> it returns me:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
File format is not valid."

It sounds like it's trying to install a file with an invalid format.

What happens if you let PMPC just download the file only?

Can you manually install it after it downloads?

Snappy Driver Installer Origin is currently not supported in the Home Updater.

The left column shows the latest version.

The right column shows the version (PMPC thinks) you have.

I have had this issue when updating through the browser using the Firefox and Thundebird About screens, and reported it to Mozilla.

The About screen display is correct, but the version number in the registry is not.

Running winget also shows the version mismatch.

Mozilla couldn't reproduce it.

I now update with PMPC, and the versions are correct in both.

This sounds like a bot...or someone who didn't read the original post.

This issue looks similar to the one I have with Wise Registry Cleaner.

In that case, PMPC is parsing the version number from the DisplayName registry key, rather that getting it directly from the DisplayVersion key.

That worked...until the version number was no longer included in the DisplayName key.

Diff of the registry keys that shows my issue -

I suspect the same thing is happening here with XnView MP.

Quote from: Raunak Desai (Patch My PC) on October 16, 2023, 11:34:45 PMHey,

Yes, that is correct. The apps and update is available for SCCM and Intune. You cannot deploy an app through WSUS as it natively doesn't provide that feature, but you can still deploy it as an update in WSUS.

PatchMyPc supports all the 3 platforms.

Regards,
Raunak

I was wondering why this thread was in the Home Updater forum.

Given the title of the page that's linked to, it appears that app is only available for ConfigMgr and Intune.

The app is not listed in the "Home Updater Supported Products List" section on this page...

Quote from: BOTR82 on October 14, 2023, 04:10:18 PMI agree with this, a very dissappointing program that is talked up a lot. SUMo is much better than this. I don't need auto updating like the ones who love this program with it's limited program support.

From the KC Softwares site -

Termination notice
KC Softwares activities are to be terminated by end of October 2023.
All products are to be considered as End-Of-Life (EOL) on October 31st 2023.
Sales are stopped.
Stating the obvious. It is sad that now there only second rate options out there.

Many skip reading the beginning of threads, so may not already know it.

Disagree totally about options.

WingetUI is close to PatchMyPC, but not quite there yet. PMPC still finds more updates on my system...and sooner. It can take a few days for WingetUI to catch up.

Same thing with command line Winget.

The thing I didn't like about SUMo is that the setting to ignore beta software never worked in the free version, so that took time running down whether it was an actual release or not.

Never had that issue with PMPC.

According to the Calibre website, 6.28.1 was officially released on 10/7, so it may take PMPC a little time to catch up.
