Messages - Andrew Jimenez (Patch My PC)

Hello,

Yes, if you have the Patch My PC Publisher installed, it performs the same functions (and more) as SCUP.

Hello,

This would be better suited for a support request. Would you be able to submit a request to: https://patchmypc.com/technical-support

If you could also provide the following log files from a client, with that request, it would also be helpful:
%WinDir%\CCM\Logs\PatchMyPC-ScriptRunner.log
%WinDir%\CCM\Logs\PatchMyPC-SoftwareDetectionScript.log
%WinDir%\CCM\Logs\AppEnforce*.log

That is definitely a workaround. I've asked David if OriginURI can be modified with WPP.
#109
I was thinking you could download them locally and change the download location to that local path as a workaround.

You said they worked fine in a browser, which browser were you using to download? Can you try in Internet Explorer? I expect WPP is using .NET for the downloads which uses the IE engine. It may be an issue with IE downloading the file specifically.

Hello,

This is weird, I was able to test it with my own instance of SCUP and the download worked fine. I have a feeling that there is some sort of bot protection on that link that may be preventing you from downloading the software via WSUS Package Publisher. I've not used that software before, but is there a way to reference a local file?

We shipped the latest version available in today's catalog and updated our tooling to catch these updates as they are released. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Hi Steven,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we'll get this updated in our next catalog release.

Hi Dom,

Let's open a full case on this. Can you submit a case here: https://patchmypc.com/technical-support
and include the patchmypc.log, which should be in the installation folder of the Patch My PC Publisher?
#114
That is interesting. There should only be 1 instance of the updates unless the updates were republished somehow, as the updates will have the same updateID. Have any of the duplicated records been republished in Patch My PC or SCUP?

Hello,

We do have a way to clear out the apps created by Patch My PC, it is definitely easier to start fresh sometimes!

If you open the Patch My PC Publisher, Navigate to the "ConfigMgr Apps" tab, hit "Options", you'll see a button for "Run ConfigMgr Application Manager", in that tool you can mass delete deployments as well as the apps themselves. If you do have deployments on the apps, I do recommend deleting the assignments first, then deleting the apps (sometimes software center gets confused when the app is deleted and the deployment isn't deleted first).

This addition was pushed in today's catalog update. The rules should be updated in-place if using the Patch My PC Publisher.

Hello,

We do not at this time, but should with the next catalog release. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

You can definitely add in a try catch, the biggest thing is to ensure is that it returns a 0 if it is successful, or the entire installation might return as failed.

I would use a post install script. You can easily turn a registry file into a PowerShell script using this awesome tool: https://reg2ps.azurewebsites.net/

We'll have this in the catalog later this week (Week of 15/11/2021).
