Hello,

Patch My PC isn't working for me. I tried to install updates from the command line. "/silent" and "/update" are both not working. For every outdated program I get the log message: "since silent installation disabled for this application". I tested it on two PCs. I haven't disabled 'silent installation' and I'd like to use 'silent installation'. Whats the Problem?

Could you try now. We just released 4.0.1.1. We believe we fixed this bug where apps would always get skipped in the silent mode.

I still have a problem. I'm not sure if it's the same error or a new one. The error messages are gone and the programs "Notepad++ 7.5.5 (x86)" and "Backup And Sync" were updated. However "WhatsApp" and "OneDrive" weren't updated. I tried to run the setup from comandline again. The log says "No application updates or installations needed. Patch My PC will now close." however the programs are outdated.

An updated from the GUI-Interfaced worked fine.

Do you have multiple versions listed in the uninstall menu in Patch My PC? If an applications checkbox is green, but there's an outdated version listed in the right textbox it's usually due to multiple versions listed in the registry.

There are no multiple versions. The update from the GUI-Interface worked fine. Only the update from commandline didn't worked.

There was no green listing for  "WhatsApp" or "OneDrive"

I tried to reproduce the problem and I can: I downgraded to the old Whatsapp-Version again and tried to update. Still not working from the commandline "No application updates or installations needed. Patch My PC will now close." An update from the gui worked fine again. There is no double-listing in uninstall menu.

I found the problem....

I tried to run PatchMyPC from the scheduled tasks menu with the system account.  This is just a guess, but: I think it's possible that Whatsapp and OneDrive are only installed for the specific user. If I start it from the commandline directly both apps are updated.

If this is the reason for the problem every thing works finde for me. Sorry to bothering you.

RichardEb

I did some more research: Reason confirmed. Problem solved. Thanks.

Yeah, so it you enable the scheduled task to run whether or not a user is logged in that will set PMPC to run under SYSTEM therefore it won't see any apps installed in the HKCU registry key.

Thank You. Issue can be closed...I think.
