Title: How to create SCCM groups for deployments based on software found
Post by: nhottinger on February 14, 2020, 09:34:29 AM
Here's my scenario.  I got everything setup and have the third party updates that were found in my environment downloaded into my SCCM environment (GREAT!).  Now...for example, I see there are 7 devices in our org that need a 7-Zip update.  Is it possible to create a Device Collection for just those devices that need this update or would you suggest deploying the 7-zip update to all pc's in the org given that not everything will get the update if it's not currently installed?  When I say create a device collection, I mean somehow automatically and not manually typing in each name to add to the collection.

You can certainly segment the updates out to separate deployment, but they will only install on machines where the update is required.

Thank you Mitchelw.  That's what I thought but didn't know if there was a different way with PatchMyPC.  This of course would not apply if I had PatchMyPC create applications for me, then they would install on anything it was deployed to.
