General Questions (Free Home Updater) / Re: Log File
Last post by evarus - January 27, 2023, 12:38:46 PM
Quote from: robwolfe on January 07, 2023, 10:54:31 AMThe latest version 4.5.0.1 supposedly fixed the log file being created when it has been disabled. For me the log is disabled but the log file is created stating the PatcMyPC.ini file does not exist in the same folder. Only by exporting the PatchMyPcini file do I not get the log file being created.
Robert

I have the same problem. Please help.

I had the same issu with more than 1000 Clients. Saw that in the old Detection Script "{'SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE'}" was . After republishing as you said, in the new Detection is "($h in 'HKLM'){foreach($x in 'software'){foreach($s in(gp ($G="$h`:\$x\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\*")"
Now it works.

You can also use Manage Conflicting Processes to ensure all conflicting Processes are closed before the install occurs.

Adobe Reader has a surprising number of applications that will trigger a reboot if they are running during the installation. /norestart doesn't stop the 3010 exit code, it just stops the installer itself from prompting for a restart. When Software Center gets the 3010 exit code, it handles it as defined in Client Settings.

Two options you can do are to change the reboot behavior or change the exit codes in the deployment type settings to set 3010 to a non reboot code.

Despite having /norestart in the command line options, some of our users are getting reboot prompts from Software Center when yesterday's update of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 22.003.20310.

Is there anything we can do / provide to help figure out why?

That should not cause a reboot, there may be another process that caused it. The switches run with that can be found by looking at the show package info or looking at the Modify published updates wizard which is a look into WSUS.  https://patchmypc.com/modify-published-third-party-updates-wizard

Please go to https://patchmypc.com/technical-support and include your client logs to help us see what the issue is

Hey Wes, I'm running into this same issue. I had a user's machine reboot two days in a row; one from a DisplayLink update and another from an Acrobat update. Checking the command-line on the update, the reboot is supposed to be suppressed. If I want to open a support case, which specific logs would best help in this case?

The first thing I would try is to stop the Patch My PC service and restart it. If that does not allow things to work you will want to look at getting the interactive service operation enabled.
