Hi,

Just ran PMPC /s and my log file shows this:
3/13/2018 12:20:18 PM - Skipping install for Adobe Flash Plugin 29.0.0.113 because iexplore.exe is running and auto close apps isn't enabled during
3/13/2018 12:20:18 PM - Skipping install for Mozilla Firefox 59.0 (x86) because Firefox.exe is running and auto close apps isn't enabled during

However, I *DO* have the auto close apps settingn turned on as this is in my INI file
; Options

Chk_Options_AutoCloseAppsBeforeUpdate
;Chk_Options_AutoStartUpdateOnOpen

Any idea why it's not working like it's supposed to?

Kelemvor

I jsut tested running the app manually and it did close my Firefox and install the update.  The problem seems to just be when using patchmypc.exe with the /s flag.

Just tested this with 4.0.1.0 and it still skipped updating my Firefox that was open.

Looks like a bug in the new version:  https://patchmypc.net/forum/index.php?topic=1766.0

That looks like something else.  My issues is that it won't close apps that are running in order to update them even though I have is set to do so.  The other thread looks like Silent Installs aren't working at all.  Not sure if they're related or not.

Please have a close look at the error messages and the rethink it. You will see that the message changed in your new log snippet. Your first post is definitly a different problem. But your new log shows the problem mentioned in the link.

Edit: By the way: I have the same problem (first post) as you. Apps don't autoclose in silent mode. But I think its on purpose.

Justin Chalfant (Patch My PC)

Do you have Firefox set to skip auto update in the right click context menu?

Ah, I didn't notice my error actually changed and now says Silent Mode is disabled instead of that it couldn't close the app

When I run the program manually and right click Firefox, nothing is set to disabled.

Looks like we found a bug around this in yesterdays release should have a fix soon.

Justin Chalfant (Patch My PC)

Can you guys try now? We just release an update 4.0.1.1 which we think fixed the issue you guys were having. If the auto close setting is enabled, it should close in silent mode now.

Kelemvor

I got the updated version but now I'm back to the original error stating:
3/19/2018 11:56:32 AM - Skipping install for Mozilla Firefox 59.0.1 (x86) because Firefox.exe is running and auto close apps isn't enabled during

instead of the one from earlier today that said:

This message would be expected if Firefox was running when Patch My PC is running in silent mode. Do you have the option to "Auto Close Apps Before Update" enabled?

If this is enabled, it should close the apps process when Patch My PC is in silent mode and complete the update.

Justin Chalfant (Patch My PC)

Ah wait, looks like you are using the INI file for this setting? I may have found a bug where this setting isn't read correctly during the update it it's coming from the INI vs being saved locally on the PC in the registry. This should be an easy fix on our end.
