False Positive. Apparently, Norton will not allow the user (you) to over-ride and deletes the file. This is true of other AVs, too. Try to find one that allows you to over0ride. Malwarebytes will allow over-rides and several others will too. Check AV reviews and find something else.

Dell G15 5520 with i5-12500H and 16 GB RAM ... Windows 11 Pro 24H2 26100.2605

Attempting to install v. 5.0.5.0 ,,,

Computer freezes at "Installing Prerequisite Software".

I left it on the screen at one point for several hours.

Attempt to get past this ...

Three Finger Salute (Control - Alternate - Delete), Task Manager, Delete "Control UI for administrative ..." and "Windows Installer" and back to Desktop.

After Reboot, the Installer runs again with same results. Reboot again and attempt to delete the Installer file ... no luck ... every time I boot, the installer rears it's ugly head.

What do I do? Please help. Thanks.

Thanks, Omar. I have now installed version 5 and it seems to have solved the problem.

Wow ... a whole new application that doesn't even look like the older version. Two small problems ... I thought the installation of v.5 would delete v.4.504 (I think that was the older version). It did not so, since the older version was portable, I simply deleted it and it's shortcut on the Taskbar. 2nd problem ... I like to place application shortcuts on my taskbar and aI like to place them in a particular area. With 37 application shortcuts on the taskbar, many are on the taskbar overflow. I preferred for "Patch" to not be on the overflow taskbar, but Microsoft has not made it possible to move Icons on the overflow taskbar and to place "Patch" where I want it requires deleting all overflow Icons and 1 or 2 on the regular taskbar, and then adding all of the deleted ones back in my preferred order. For now, I'm not going to do that so "Patch" now sits at the right end of the overflow taskbar. But that is not your problem ... it is Microsoft's and my problem.

Again, thanks for the new application. Now I must remove the old "Patch" from each of my computers and install v.5 on them all.

Two years later and the problem is back. I no longer have the Acer and now have 9 computers and on 8 of them, Patch starts immediately. On the 9th, my main computer, a Dell Inspiron 3891 with an i5-11400 CPU, 16 GB RAM, and a fast NVMe 500 GB drive with only 72 GB on it. The only Start-up program enabled is "Hop to Desk" and the Task Manager only shows the "Brave" browser running along with the Task Manager. Task Manager also shows the CPU is using only 2%, Memory 35%, Disk 0%, and Network 0% as I type this.

Patch My PC starts about 1 minute after I click on it's shortcut. This is also true when I click on the file, itself. The Patch My PC log shows the following ...

12/3/2024 12:49:13 PM - Patch My PC Started
12/3/2024 12:49:13 PM - Checking connection to patchmypc.com
12/3/2024 12:50:17 PM - Verified connection to patchmypc.com. Status Code: 200

1 minute 4 seconds to start. I do not have this problem with other applications and internet service is usually immediate. My ISP is Spectrum and Speedtest shows the wifi internet speed as 476 Mbps, which is normal for this computer located about 15 feet from the mesh router.

How do I fix this problem?

Whatever you did, you fixed the problem!

Patch is opening slowly, sometimes taking several minutes to open on all 8 of my Windows 11 machines. An error message indicating that the Patch server could not be found is seen frequently.

I have excellent internet service and do not have any problems with any other internet applications so it appears the problem is at your end. Please help. Thanks.

Thanks, StPendl. Worked

I apparently have two 7-zip applications. One updates, the other does not. See the attachments.

I don't know if this is the solution or not, but it cannot hurt ... first completely uninstall Patch My PC. My version of "Patch" is portable, so that makes it easy to uninstall ... just delete the program. If you have an installed version of Patch (I'm not sure if there even is an installed version), then use an uninstall program like HiBitUninstaller rather than the Uninstaller in the Control Panel as it will also repair the registry.

Then download Patch again (the portable version), place it on you desktop or somewhere it is easy to get to, and execute it again. I suspect your problem will be gone.

Good Luck

Patch My PC version 4.5.0

I have Patch My PC on 7 separate computers and it works well on 6, but on the 7th, an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-57-59EY,It usually takes minutes to load. I'll click on the application, the computer asks for permission to load it, I click yes and then I wait and wait and wait.

Is this a normal thing as it opens immediately on the other 6 computers. The Acer has an i5-11400H and 8 GB RAM.

I hope that update will be soon. I cannot imagine that adding the categories again would be a difficult programing problem. It would (I think) only require a few lines (the categories) to be added back to the program and other lines moved to fit the categories.

Same here! I no longer see about 30 apps that "Patch ..." formerly updated. I'm suspecting a possible legal problem might have caused this. Let us know what is happening or if this is in error.

Whenever I attempt to open "Patch", I get an error message that my computer is unable to reach the "Patch" server. I am having no problems reaching other websites. Perhaps it is down for maintenance?Screenshot 2022-09-26 111152.png

Right now, there are updates available for KC Software's SUMo and Crystal Disk Info. SUMO has been available for several days and CDI for, probably 24 hours, at least, but Patch My PC does not see those updates or install those updates even when manually requested.

I do not know how the software knows when updates are available, but, at least with these two, it seems like it is taking too long for it to happen.

Looks like Ccleaner Portable may be gone with version 6.Patch does not have an update and none on Piriform page.
