Adobe Flash Leaving Remnants of Updates

We are evaluating PatchMyPC and its integration with SCCM for 3rd Party Update distribution.

As a test, we have been updating our PCs to the latest flavor of Adobe Flash. The roll out seemed to go very well, however our vulnerability management solution still reported that our endpoints were running outdated versions of Adobe Flash.

Upon investigating, it looks like Flash Player was updated, however old versions of the Flash ActiveX control were left on the computer. The strange part is that the computer does not show the ActiveX control in the Add/Remove programs.

Is there a setting change that we need to implement so that Flash Player 21 is eliminated/updated when the computer is updated?

Hi rhITsec
Version 21 is a pretty old version and may be one that requires some "persuasion" or "scripting intervention" to cleanly update.  You may want to script an uninstall as a post script to see if it cleans off everything before the update or even have a post script to clean up afterwards.
