Hi,

Home Updater 5.0.5.0 is advising that I update eM Client on my Windows 10 PC from 10.1.4588.0 to 10.1.4828.0.

However, I've checked the update notes (links below) and it seems that this newer version is only listed for Mac, not PC.

Could you please look into this?

Thanks,

General Questions (Free Home Updater) / Re: Newbie questions

Quote from: henrygu on November 27, 2024, 04:59:34 AM1. I have changed my downloads location to e:\downloads but after updating my apps I do not see the downloaded updates in e:\downloads.  Where are they held? Are they deleted, and if so can I stop this?

2. I updated Mozilla Thunderbird & Firefox via the app, but after opening the programs they had not been updated. The downloads appeared to complete and install.

It would be nice if the scope was wider, how I miss SUMO, but it's a good program :)
Hey there, are you using the Home Updater v4 or v5?

General Questions (Free Home Updater) / Re: Newbie questions

1. Updates for applications like Firefox and Thunderbird are typically installed from a temporary location and not saved in your designated download folder (e:\downloads).
2. These update files are usually deleted automatically after installation.
3. To check if your applications updated correctly, verify the version number under Help > About in the apps.
4. If the updates didn't apply, consider reinstalling the latest version from the official Mozilla website.
5. Resources like SUMO are less accessible now, but you can still find support on the Mozilla help pages.
Hope this information helps you.

Hey there, Sorry to hear about this weird issue! :(
We actually released the Home Updater v5.0 recently! It's totally remade and shouldn't have this issue! And if you faced any issues just let us know :)

Hello steadybird,

I apologize for not replying, I somehow missed your message.

QuoteDid it behave as I suspected in that each instance would have its own separate set of applications published to Intune?
You can only publish an app from the PMPC Catalog to Intune once. Whichever PMPC console publishes it first takes priority. If another console tries to publish the same app, it will detect that the app is already published and won't create a duplicate.

However, if the second console is set up to manage assignments (like user or device groups), those assignments will still be applied. There won't be conflicts, but it's a good idea to use the same right-click settings in both consoles to avoid issues. (if applicable, Modify Command Line, Manage conflicting processes, any custom scripts, etc)

For clarity:

Console1 handles Dynamic Assignments - sync runs daily - publishes updates that meet your CVE criteria.
Console2 handles Manage Assignments - sync runs monthly - publishes updates that weren't published by Console1. Sets assignments according to your "Manage assignments" right-click setting.
Both consoles should otherwise have the same settings when it comes to other right-click options.

Hi there,

As my colleague Raunak suggested in an earlier post, you can reduce the grace period days in the client settings.

Alternatively, you can configure Maintenance Windows in Configuration Manager to control when updates and reboots occur. This will enable you to specify when a device installs an update and reboots at a particular time.

Please note that the Maintenance Window will be applicable for the following tasks as well (non Patch My PC deployments):
  • Application and package deployments
  • Software update deployments
  • Compliance settings deployment and evaluation
  • OS and custom task sequence deployments

For more details, you can refer to the official documentation.

Hi PRABB32256,

Is this behavior observed only with Zoom, or with other updates as well?

Also, I can see that the timeout configured is for 300 seconds (i.e., 5 minutes), but in the user notification window, it's presented as 43 minutes.

Two years later and the problem is back. I no longer have the Acer and now have 9 computers and on 8 of them, Patch starts immediately. On the 9th, my main computer, a Dell Inspiron 3891 with an i5-11400 CPU, 16 GB RAM, and a fast NVMe 500 GB drive with only 72 GB on it. The only Start-up program enabled is "Hop to Desk" and the Task Manager only shows the "Brave" browser running along with the Task Manager. Task Manager also shows the CPU is using only 2%, Memory 35%, Disk 0%, and Network 0% as I type this.

Patch My PC starts about 1 minute after I click on it's shortcut. This is also true when I click on the file, itself. The Patch My PC log shows the following ...

12/3/2024 12:49:13 PM - Patch My PC Started
12/3/2024 12:49:13 PM - Checking connection to patchmypc.com
12/3/2024 12:50:17 PM - Verified connection to patchmypc.com. Status Code: 200

1 minute 4 seconds to start. I do not have this problem with other applications and internet service is usually immediate. My ISP is Spectrum and Speedtest shows the wifi internet speed as 476 Mbps, which is normal for this computer located about 15 feet from the mesh router.

How do I fix this problem?

Dear colleagues,

PMPC 5.0.5 installs Anydesk 9.0.0 in the x64 system folder but the original and previous
Anydesk version 8.1.0 is installed in the x86 program folder. Afterwards nothing works
including the existing shortcuts from the previous.
Current solution: complete uninstall of all Anydesk versions with revo uninstaller (free edition),
reinstalling Anydesk 9 in the x86 program folder. Then a re-registration of Anydesk (key)
is necessary.

Very annoying!

Kind regards

Ronald
