I haven't been able to find the full offline installer file for Yahoo Messenger do you know where this can be downloaded?

ATM I only have a half answer. Current US offline installer is at http://xh.yimg.com/gj/msgr/115/client/ymsgr1150_0152_us.exe . Just replace the country in the dl link. Country abbreviations used can be grabbed from http://messenger.yahoo.com/download/ , although most should be pretty common.

Example: http://xh.yimg.com/gj/msgr/115/client/ymsgr1150_0152_de.exe

I will see if I can find a more long term answer. In the meantime I hope this helps.

I'm adding these options into the program. <snip> There is going to be a options feature replacing the Windows Tools feature.

Very cool. Thank you!

Are there any switches or use of the XML file to install the optional software as well?

Added in version 2.0.2 you can download it now and download the latest config.xml from this post for a sample of how to install certain optional software by default. Good Idea!

Patch My PC 2.0.7 and above no longer use the config.xml for customizing how it's run

This is something I'm certainly planning on doing in the future. Most likely a cheap Pro version intended for admin's where they could control where everything is downloaded from and more features.
I look forward to it. As far as WSUS is concerned, check out WSUS Offline Update.

I left VLC player out of the outdated check because it usually required user interaction when installing.

Maybe you would consider an advanced mode or some way to switch this on if wanted? Even if just through the XML config file? (For all optional, not just VLC ;)  )

When patch my pc is loaded if will give you a list of outdated sw installed including optional sw. So if the latest version of thunderbird is 6.0.2 and you have 6.0.1 installed it will show up and you will know you should check thunderbird.

I'm not seeing this in ver 2.0.3. I just tested, and an outdated VLC did not show up as needing updated. I will be happy to test further if needed.
