With everyone across the world Working from Home and seemingly using Zoom meetings for everything, it'd be great if Zoom could be quickly added to the application list.

Thanks.

Howdy,

Minor request but something that I'd find really useful.  Any chance the log file could include the current version of each piece of software as well as the version that it's upgrading to?  It'd be helpful if I run into an issue with a new version so I'd know what version I could go back to to try to resolve any issues.

And when running PMPC on a machine I haven't used for a while, it'd be good to know just how out of date something was.

Thanks.

Howdy,

PMCP works great but we are removing Admin rights from our users so I need a way to run it as the System (or some other built in) account.  When I try to do so, I get an error in the log stating:

Unable to connection to patchmypc.com. Please verify you have internet connection And try to browse to https://patchmypc.com. Error: Error creating the Web Proxy specified in the 'system.net/defaultProxy' configuration section.

We use Cisco Umbrella as our Proxy so when it runs under the System account, it can't get to the internet.  I'm not sure what it's referring to with the 'system.net/defaultproxy' stuff but am wondering if I can code a Proxy value into a config/ini file somewhere or how else I could tell the program to use a specific proxy when it runs.

Or if anyone has any other ideas on other options I might have, I'd be open to other thoughts.

Thanks!

Hi,

We noticed that we have a number of users with both the 32 and 64 bit versions of 7Zip & Firefox installed.  When they run PMPC, it shows the outdated version in red but doesn't flag it to be updated.

For both of these, the x86 version got updated but the x64 version did not.

I don't know about anyone else but when looking at the PMPC log file I would fine it immensely helpful if it would list the current version of the software that it finds it needs to update.

Currently it tells me what program it found to update and what the new version is, but it doesn't list the current version so I can't tell how old a piece of software was to know how much it changed.  If it's easy to add a single link to the log file for each program that says something like

For example:

Howdy,

Two issues.
1) We noticed we had a couple computers with outdated versions of Firefox.  When I checked their PMPC log it showed it had updated Firefox a couple weeks ago.  When I checked actual PMPC it showed the 32 bit version was installed and at 59.0.02 and the 64 bit version was installed but only at 57.0.  However, it says No Apps to Install

2) Audacity doesn't seem to update correctly.  It seems to install the new version but not remove the old version.  Add/Remove programs then lists them both but they act strange when you try to uninstall them.  I had this exact same problem, with these same two versions, on a different laptop the other day as well.

See attached.

Thanks.

I ran PMPC today and found this on one of my machines.  For some reason it is listing RDCMan twice.  One shows as out of date and the other as current.  When I check add/remove programs, it only shows the current one.  Not sure what it's detecting as the out of date one but just thought I'd post this in case it's something someone wants to look into.  Let me know if I can provide any other information.

Thanks.

Hi,

Just ran PMPC /s and my log file shows this:
3/13/2018 12:20:18 PM - Skipping install for Adobe Flash Plugin 29.0.0.113 because iexplore.exe is running and auto close apps isn't enabled during
3/13/2018 12:20:18 PM - Skipping install for Mozilla Firefox 59.0 (x86) because Firefox.exe is running and auto close apps isn't enabled during

However, I *DO* have the auto close apps settingn turned on as this is in my INI file
; Options

Chk_Options_AutoCloseAppsBeforeUpdate
;Chk_Options_AutoStartUpdateOnOpen

Any idea why it's not working like it's supposed to?

We used to use Firefox ESR (v52) but have changed to just using regular Firefox now.  This left us with most people have both versions installed since they are technically separate programs.  Is there any way for PMPC to look for a certain program and uninstall it if it finds it?

I don't think there is but just thought I'd ask since it'd be cool if it could. :)

Howdy,

Since the .settings files don't work any more, how can I make it so that none of the computers in our office will check for certain updates if they all run the program with /s from a network share?  We don't want the Java JDKs to update since we need certain versions to do certain things.

It doesn't seem like those settings are stored in the exported INI file from what I can tell.  I right clicked a few things to disable the auto updates and exported the INI file but nothing changed.

Not sure if that's a bug or WAD or what.

Howdy,

Testing out some of the changes with adding the computer name to the log file name.  We've always noticed that the first time PMPC is run on a new computer, (run in silent mode with /s) it doesn't generate a log file.  It's not in the folder with the .exe, it's not under appdata anywhere, it just doesn't seem to record anything.

The second time I run the program it generates the log file just fine.  The problem is that the first run is when it's going to make most of the changes and I have no record of what it did.

It seems as though it's reading in the info from the .INI file but it's not using that information until after the program is closed and reopened.

Any way that can be fixed or changed?

Howdy,

Prior to the latest version or two, Notepad worked just fine to open the Log file.  As of yesterday, the log file just shows up as one giant block of text that is horrible to read.  If I use somethign more advanced like notepad++ works, but not everyone has that.

Any chance the log file could be encoded differently?

While we're on that topic, could you maybe put in a line of ****************'s or something to divide each time the program is run?  Currently there's no line break between when one run ends and another one starts which also makes it harder to read.

Thanks!

This has been failing for a week or two.

If I go to https://download.handbrake.fr/releases/1.0.7/HandBrake-1.0.7-i686-Win_GUI.exe manually, it does give me a file download so dunno why PMPC isn't working.

Howdy,

I'm testing creating a Scheduled Task to run PatchMyPc on a Windows 10 machine.  The only way I could get the scheduled task to show up was to set it to run as NT Authority/System when it runs.  (Apparently that's a Windows 10 thing).

Anyway, I got the task to show up and I ran it manually.  It shows up in Task Manager as running as System, but I can't tell if it's doing anything or not.  Anyone know where the log file might be when running under the System account?  It's been in my Task Manager for over an hour but doesn't seem to actually be doing thing so I'm just trying to get this figured out.

Or does anyone have any other suggestions on how to set this up from within a GPO?

Thanks.
