Hello,

A couple days ago our Winzip 23 application started reporting a revision error in our publishing service report. Other applications have been imported fine.

Failed
Applications Revised   Time
WinZip 23.0.13431 (x64)   2/5/2021 12:00:38 AM
Length cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: length

I'm not too sure what it was referring to so I went into the patchMyPC.log and found another description:
*** Failed :    WinZip 23.0.13431 (x64) has failed to be revised into SCCM: CopyScriptFailed

We do utilize "Modify command line" to insert more MSI arguments and "Manage custom pre/post scripts" to copy the license file, but neither has changed, and the script files are still in their designated location.

I am curious if the error(s) are pointing to an issue with one of those 2 options, or should I be looking somewhere else?

Thank you,

Hello,

I have been going through adding in additional applications to update with Patch My PC, and noticed that you had CCleaner and Malwarebytes listed. A while back our organization started removing CCleaner and Malwarebytes from our systems because someone realized they are not licensed for businesses. (We never deployed them, but users installed them on their own). We ending up buying their business versions, which have different installation files and their own update mechanism.

I was just curious why home licensed software would be listed in Patch My PC's SCCM database geared towards businesses.

Thanks,

Hello,

I noticed that Microsoft announced Power BI would discontinue the MSI installer in favour of EXE installers going forward. I was curious how this would effect current deployments of Power BI since PatchMyPC uses the MSI installer.

Thanks

Retiring the Power BI Desktop .msi installer for an .exe

Plan For Change
Published On : July 30, 2019
We will be retiring the .msi installer for Power BI Desktop beginning September, 2019. We're moving to a .exe installer which includes all languages in a single download, allowing users to change the language of their UI and data model as needed.

How does this impact me?
When this change is implemented, users will no longer be able to download the .msi installer from: PowerBI.msi. They should use the .exe installer at: PowerBI.exe. The links from www.powerbi.com will direct users to the .exe from July 2019.

The .msi installer will be available until September 1, 2019, at which point only the .exe will be available.

What should I do to prepare for this change?
For users on Windows 10 we still recommend you download Power BI Desktop from the Microsoft Store.
