@Omar: Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Sometimes I miss the obvious - shame on me.

PatchMyPC lists "Mozilla Thunderbird 60.9.0 **(x86)**" as an outdated app although "Mozilla Thunderbird 68.1.0 **(x64)**" is currently installed on my PC. (Latest version: 4.1.0.3 / Definition: 18-Sep-2019).

I just search the registry for abandon entries and found out that an old WinMerge v2.14.0 entry still existed,
pointing to the non-existing directory path C:\Program Files (x86)\WinMerge. After I've deleted this entry,
PatchMyPC worked as expected again.

Although WinMerge v2.16.0 x64 has already been installed on my PC, an exiting v2.14.0 is found and an update is recommended.
