Hello,

I think i found a bug when i update Mozilla Firefox dutch version with PatchMyPC.
In Options i got dutch by: Download software in the following language when available.
After update the language is danish instead of dutch.
It happend on 5 pc's here, so it must be a bug.
Hope you can fix this problem.

Thanks,

Hi Bill,

Yes, This is an issue that will be resolved in version 2.1.1.3. I should be releasing this version this evening.

Thanks,

Justin

I found that since the last 3 version when you choose to skip Java it still installs it. I'm hoping this gets fixed, or if you can provide some guidance it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

Hey Dav, Your right looks like I only give the time in the log. The full date will most likely be in the next version.

Awesome thanks for reporting this issue   :)

Hmm I'm changing to way Patch My PC verifies the user has an internet connection in the next version hopefully this will fix this issue.

Currently Patch My PC doesn't read IE settings for internet settings. I will look into having a setting for this if the next version doesn't work.

I'm unable to get a connection, so the s/w doesn't start.  Usual message, "Unable to load definition file from..."

The PC's run MS's ISA firewall client, and this sets IE to use the ISA server proxy, <name of the server>, on port 8080.

Does PatchMyPC use any other ports? - if so, I guess we need to open 'em in ISA.

Does PatchMyPC "honour" the IE settings for proxy server? (does it read and use 'em)?

Cheers,  great looking product, would love to be able to use it! :)  Duncan.

Hi Zack,

You are able skip updates in the options panel these settings are stored in HKLM\Software\Patch My PC\Options you can export these settings and import them on any system where you want to skip Java.

Currently there is no way to automatically apply Other software unless an outdated version is detected. You can apply all common updates by using the /applyallcommon switch.

I probably wont add a feature to the free version to launch a file after the update is complete but maybe the pro version.

Same thing for the adding custom updates that won't be in the free version but may possibly be in the pro version (Probably not at the first release of pro though).

The definitions are controlled with an XML file so I may add the feature to pull updates from a local server in the pro version not free.

Maybe some of this is included in the Pro version that the About screen eludes to...

It would be nice to be able to post (like on an intranet) or pass (via command line param) a configuration file that would specify which apps to try to install and/or update.  For instance, at my work place, we have several applications that are very sensitive to Java version, so we would like to withhold that update on our PC's.  It would also be nice to force the install of other software to all PC's, such as Keepass.

After an application had been installed or updated, it would be handy to be able to kick off a configuration script.  Many times that would just be a registry file to pre-populate some settings, but leaving it open-ended for a .VBS file would probably be more universal.

Having the ability for end-users to add software to the list would be great.  I'm not sure what your mechanism looks like, but if a simple XML/INI file could be created to identify software versions and download locations, that would make it much faster for not only us as an end-user, but also you as the developer/maintainer.  On a related note, I checked the box to update my KeePass installation, which it did, but it didn't install the very latest version.  PatchMyPC installed version 2.18, but 2.19 is out.

I think I saw someone else requesting it, but being able to install from a local copy would save us a lot of time and bandwidth in the corporate environments.

I like what you have going here.  It has a lot of potential for home use, repair-shop use, as well as corporate.

I'll check the silent install option and get it added in the next version.

Hmm, I'm having no issues it must be something on your local machine blocking it try temporally turning of you firewall or antivirus and running it.

I am using version 2.1.1.2 on a Win XP pro computer. When I try to run PatchMyPC I get the error message  "Unable to load definition file from www.patchmypc.net. Internet connection is required to run Patch My PC please verify you have internet connection and try again."

This is despite browsing on your site. I have rebooted and can browse the net as well as ping your site and google.ca.
The program used to work on the computer. I have installed Tuneup Utilities 2012 and this months updates from Microsoft since I last ran the program.

Try re-downloading version 2.1.1.2. I just posted a update that should resolve this issue where Patch My PC doesn't close when using switches.

Thanks

I will take a look tonight. Do you have the run Windows updates option checked on the machine it's running on? Thanks
#2085
This has been added in version 2.1.1.2
